Research Fellow dr. Maja Podgornik has worked at the Institute for Oliveculture, Science and research centre of Koper since 2005, within the framework of national and international projects. Since 2015 is Head of Institute for oliveculture and since 2018 also Head of the public service for olive-growing. Main research fields are agronomy and technology of olive growing and Mediterranean agricultural plants. She works in the field of plant protection, irrigation management, climatic change and new technologies in agriculture production. Between 2008 and 2016 she was also included in the undergraduate study programmes Mediterranean Agriculture and Biodiversity and in the postgraduate study programme Sustainable Development Management at the University of Primorska.

BSc., Milena Bučar-Miklavčič (female) is the Head of laboratory. From 1998 she is spread among research work and project oriented work at Science and Research Center of Koper as a researcher and project manager in the field of olive oils and Mediterranean agriculture. Her main research fields are: antioxidant substances in olive oils and olive drupes (secoiridoids and tocols), chemometric assessment of extra virgin olive oils from Slovene Istria, sensorial and chemistry related studies of autochthonous olive cultivars from Slovene Istria, monitoring of relevant chemical and sensorial data in Slovene olive oils since 1995.She is a member) of Chemical experts group for olive oils at CE/AGRI/C2 in Brussels since 2005 and a member of expert team for sensorial/organoleptic assessment of virgin olive oils at International Olive Council. She is Head of Slovene National Olive Council and she took important and often leading part in more than 20 national, bilateral and international research projects. Author and, co-author of many publications on peer-reviewed journals.

Research Fellow dr. Bojan Butinar (male), BSc in Chemistry, PhD in Food science. Has acquired expertise in the development of methods for determining the quality and authenticity of olive oil in the International Olive Council and the European Commission, co-author of many publications on peer-reviewed journals. Since 1992 research in the field of olive oil, olives and olive leaves (biophenols), establishment and analytical work in accredited laboratory for of olive oil testing, metrology segment for 'amount of substance' in the matrix of olive oil. COBISS comprising 152 units, of which 14 original scientific papers, 2 reviews and 4 contributions in monographs, co-authorship in a patent. since 1992 research in the field of olive oil, olives and olive leaves (biophenols), establishment and analytical work in accredited laboratory for of olive oil testing, metrology segment for 'amount of substance' in the matrix of olive oil. He is a member of the olive council at the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and food of Republic of Slovenia, authorized representative of the Republic of Slovenia at the International Olive Council (IOC), authorized representative of the Republic of Slovenia at the European Commission for the olive oil in Brussels (DG AGRI/C2).

Dr., Vasilij Valenčič, BSc in Food science and Technology, PhD in Food science, sensorial panel vice-leader, has acquired expertise on biophenols, FAME and sterols analyses of olive oils, determination of the quality and authenticity of olive oil, maintenance of the quality system of the accredited laboratory, work on research projects, co-author of publications on peer-reviewed journals.

Dr., Erika Bešter, BSc in Chemistry, PhD in Food Science, specialized in alkyl esters, stigmastadienes and waxes determination, has acquired expertise on: the determination the quality and authenticity of olive oil, maintenance of the quality system of the accredited laboratory, work in the field of metrology, work on research projects, co-author of publications on peer-reviewed journals.

BSc., Jakob Fantinič has graduated in Agronomy at the Biotechnical faculty in Ljubljana, where he is currently finishing the MSc program in Horticulture. In 2017 he started working at the Science and research centre Koper. His work includes on field data acquisition, orchards management, data analysis and setting up (and manage) experiments on olives and other mediterranean plants. He is also working on plant protection, irrigation, fertilization and propagation of olive trees.
